LaTanya Richardson Jackson
LaTanya Richardson Jackson was born in Atlanta in Georgia, USA, and graduated from Spelman College. An actor and philanthropist, she is a Trustee of the American Theatre Wing and Board Council of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. She supports a number of charitable organisations, including the Children's Defense Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union, and was a long-time board member of Artists for a New South Africa. She met her husband, Samuel L. Jackson, in 1968 on a plane travelling to protest Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination. Their daughter, Zoe, is a senior television producer.
