Fátima Carvalho
Fátima Carvalho was born in Mercês, an isolated village in the north-east of Brazil. She studied at the Federal University of Bahia in Salvador and started her professional career as a teacher in Brazil's public-school system. In 1989, she moved to the United Kingdom, where she began teaching Portuguese through her company, Language Connection. She is the founder of Caipirinha Club, a London-based social-networking group for speakers and students of Portuguese. Carvalho is based in London, and has lived previously in São Paulo and Johannesburg.
